CTX Crew
Story
CTX Crew are riding Amy's Gran Fondo because we love to ride our bikes. We do our best to ride responsibly and safely - for ourselves, our loved ones and other road users.
All too frequently we witness dangerous situations on our roads; close passes, excess speed, red light running and sheer carelessness. For cyclists the consequences of aggressive or careless behaviour by other road users can have the most serious consequences. Every year 40 cyclists are killed in Australia and 10,000 bike riders are seriously injured. Each one of them is a daughter, son, partner, parent, sibling, loved one or friend to others.
So we are taking part in the fundraising challenge leading up to the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo event on 17 September to help the AGF raise at least $100,000 to invest in educational program initiatives to create a safer environment for riding.
Any contribution you can make will help the AGF achieve its vision of zero bike rider fatalities.
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
