Paul's Cycle Safe
Story
You may not know but I like riding my bike!!! and I have entered the Amy's Gran Fondo cycling event to be held in Lorne this September.
Not surprisingly, I am keen to continue riding my bike -- safely and in one piece (well, two including the bike!!).
This is where the Amy Gilllett Foundation connects with the Paul Laidman Foundation!!! -- we are both keen on a vision of zero bike rider fatalities, not to mention zero bike rider injuries (me, especially!!).
So, I am taking part in the fundraising challenge leading up to the Wiggle Amy’s Gran Fondo event on 17 September ---- to help the Amy Gillett Foundation raise money to invest in program initiatives to create safer environments for riding bikes.
My commitment is to help raise $1000 toward this challenge and any contribution you can make will assist the AGF, and the PLF (as I will have to put in less myself!!), to achieve their vision of zero bike rider fatalities.
Activity
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
